Rate The Selling on iTunes

Today we are finishing our kickstarter to Help The Selling Get A Limited Theatrical Release.

The outpouring of support has been overwhelming and wonderful! Super huge thanks to all our backers and anyone who shared the project over the last 30 days. We are blubbering.

Because of those wonderful backers we are going to be able to give The Selling a limited theatrical release. This does two things. First it's awesome and fun and it's the way movies are made to be seen. Second it gives the movie better placement on venues like iTunes.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/the-selling/id541329840

The other thing that helps with iTunes is reviews and ratings. If you've seen the movie and you have iTunes it would be amazing if you could take a second and rate the movie on it's preorder page.

You are our marketing team. You are the people that tell the aggregators like iTunes and Amazon what is good and what deserves to be seen. This is what has the potential to change the world of entertainment. It's you!!!

If you haven't already also like the movie on Facebook to keep up with all the exciting stuff that's going on!

One of those things will be smashing a pie into Gabriel Diani's face because young filmmaker Pierre Schantz made this video.
Let's Get Gabriel!

Thanks guys!

Blabbing About The Bechdel Test

Last week the lovely Cindy Marie Jenkins had the also lovely Caroline Sharp and I over to sit in separate rooms on different computers in a massive point of google+ missing hangout (point being missed by both Caroline and my internet connections which are time warped to 1997 and reject such newfangled concepts as "streaming" and "video"). We talked about The Bechdel Test and how it applies to film, plays and us.

Sorry for the sound issues. We're still working out the system. But there has been some talk of us continuing to blab about these and related issues as we couldn't shut up.

If you're not familiar with the Bechdel test Feminist Frequency has a great little explanation.

While we make the point over and over again that the Bechdel test is a tool to look at groups of movies and not individual films here is a list for you to check on individual movies.
http://bechdeltest.com/

Here is a great article that will refute all your "well but's" http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/UsefulNotes/TheBechdelTest?from=Main.TheBechdelTest

10 points to anyone who counts the number of dog barks in our hangout.

Kinetic Creatures on Kickstarter are the Cutest

Not only are these animals super cute, but they walk too.
Watch their funding video to see them move. Amazing!

They have 26 days to go.
If they could get Elly the Elephant to do this then our heads would explode from cuteness.
Maybe I shouldn't have posted that last video. It is unhandelable.

Hair Follicle Pillow-Gross or Awesome?

No question this looks beautiful at a glance. It also looks well made and as it's description says it's scientifically accurate. But is it also gross? I can't decide.
I kind of really like it, but something about this diagram brings to mind to every diagram you've ever seen of a filled up sebaceous gland (ask your parents). Then I just remember scab and puss monster stories from waiting in line after lunch in 2nt grade.
Help me out here. It's cool right?
Then there is pretty much no question that the finger cross section creeps me out because the existence of under the fingernail is one of the few things that makes me squeamish (ow ow ow ow ow). But wouldn't they look great together?
At least we can all love this without any icky feelings coming up.
However we feel we should all thank MyWifeYourWife for making the world of throw pillows a little more exciting.

Doll hater? Me too. But these doll head cups are awesome.

I've never been into dolls. Even when I was little it was all about stuffed animals. I'm so not into dolls that I keep wanting to spell dolls like dools. That's not the spelling instinct of a doll lover, or someone who can spell. Naturally doll stuff doesn't do it for me. But I love, love, love these cups.
They're perfect. They even come in a pretty tiny box.
And I assume with this pretty severed hand.
Well done Natalia Gruszecka of endesign.

As long as we're on dolls, I found these in a consignment store in Prescott, AZ. They were surrounded by normal human dolls. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Hot Dog or Shut up and eat your Coney Island

Nope. This post is not about pink slime or unknowingly (or being fully aware of) eating snouts and anuses. Just a picture of a hot dog.
So shut up and eat your coney island.
If you really want to read about "advanced meat recovery machines" and all those lovely nitrates here's a  Scientific American article for you.

I for one will be having one of these for lunch. My #1 favorite vegan hot dog.

So shut up and eat your coney island.

Mark Twain with a Kitten

Mark Twain was one of the most photographed humans of his day.
You can see his work ruined by me (Adventures of Huckleberry Finn [Robotic Edition]) at http://DianiAndDevine.com.
But here he is with a kitten.
Here he is with his childhood home in Hannibal, Missouri.
Leaning a bit unsafely on a chair.
As a fellow member of the messy desk society.
With a top hat!
NO SHIRT!!!
At around 20. He hadn't figured out his look yet.
Just a small selection. Wish we had some of Shakespeare.

The Scarlet Furies: Bury Me In Symmetry

I just got the CD of the Scarlet Furies new live album Bury Me In Symmetry that I pledged for on Kickstarter. It's pretty fantastic.
I would like this band even if I weren't friends with the pretty one.

I interview a goose

I haven't done a ton of hosting so I was thrilled to score this interview with a goose. He was very cool and down to earth and really seemed to like our movie "The Selling".
You can like it here https://www.facebook.com/TheSelling
Thanks to the lovely Spokane International Film Festival for making this possible.

Watson's Red Carpet Interview

My dog was interviewed on the red carpet! It's his first interview so from now on we're going to work on staying "on message" and "not talking about how good cat shit tastes".

Pizza Boomerang

I can't handle this. And neither can you.
Filed under WTF. I could do research on it and find out what the hell is going on here but I feel like that might ruin it. This may be one of those rare situations (like culturing what is living in your bellybutton) where ignorance is bliss.

See I just said ignorance is bliss, then I could't help but click on http://pizzaboomerang.com for "further information". Oh joy! Oh bliss! There is no actual information there. Just the video and social media buttons. Thank you for saving me from myself pizza boomerang website designer.

The Joy of Books

Who doesn't enjoy loitering in bookstores? I know I do. (I also wouldn't mind if bookstore owners and buyers contacted us about carrying Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Robotic Edition here info@dianidevine.com)
If you've ever wondered what those pesky books are up to while we're sleeping here's the super cute video for you.
It was filmed in Toronto's Type bookstore.
Enjoy.

Diet & Exercise

The new year brings fattys everywhere out from under their elastic waist bands and into the light for some good ol' moving around. While scientists have pretty much proven this is useless for weight loss nobody listens to scientists.
This video will either make you feel better or worse about yourself. It might also make you order a giant pizza.
